Attention All Space Bounty Hunters!
I'm doing it... I'm starting another set of tilesets and enemies! This time my inspiration is the original Metroid.
If I'm being honest, I've always kinda hated the original Metroid's graphics. The sprites always looked "flat" when compared to games like Megaman or Contra, just to name two. However, one thing that interested me was the use of the game's mostly black background. A solid black background insures sprite visibility/readability but more importantly, it frees up the color in the sprite's palette that would normally be used for outlines. For me, this opens up a ton of creative possibilities. And not only that, but the original Metroid's sprites are drawn either facing the camera or from the side, never at quarter view like Megaman. Knowing that makes me feel like I have permission to ignore perspective. ;)
To sum things up, I had fun. And if you are new to pixel art, I highly recommend referencing Metroid's graphics. The graphic style is easy to understand and allows for experimentation.
Also, I swear that I was working this tileset before Dread was announced. My gamer's intuition is just that honed.
I pray all is well with you guys! And thanks again to everyone who buys my asset packs! I can't thank everyone enough.
