From the depths of space, an unidentified NES-like asset pack emerges. Void Asset Pack - Docking Facility is a Metroid inspired asset pack that attempts to emulate the look of black-background NES games.

Features:

  • A player character in two colors  -- red and blue -- additional animation is in the "additional animation zip"
  • 8x8 NES-like tiles made with palette limitations in mind
  • 5 alien enemy sprites
  • 4 blood effects sprites and 2 energy effects sprites
  • Included sprites are both PNG and GIF formats -- tilesets are PNG only
  • HUD elements, items, and power-ups -- additional content zip

Thank you!

Thank you for this Balloon Cart! This pack is super helpful in testing out some metroidvania ideas I have! Question, have you thought about adding an angle down shot for the aim, walk, run and crouch animations? Would love to see it. Nevertheless, this an amazing pack and is soooo worth the cost. Thank you for your amazing work.

Thank you for the kind words, CosmicSponge! To answer your question, I never thought about it, but it wouldn't be too hard to add the animations you mentioned. I'll be more active on itch soon, so expect an update. And thanks for making a suggestion! It helps improve my assets.

Hello again, CosmicSponge! I added the animations you suggested. They can be found in the "Void_Additional_Player_Animations.zip" file.

Hey Balloon Cart! I'm working on a space themed game, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in helping me with the pixel art. Is there any way we could talk? Like discord or something?

Hello, Crazy Bird Lady! I can't promise I'll agree to anything, but you can contact me on Discord: Balloon#9311. Also, sorry for the late response. :)

No worries! I'll msg you tomorrow!

I'm hankering to make a top down space shooter.  This sprite set almost does it.. but, is there any chance for a separate top down shooter asset pack?  Think  Zanac, Alpha Mission, Recca, etc..

Absolutely, I'd love to make a top down shooter pack. I'll start planning something now. Do you think a cross between Life Force and Recca's art style would be cool? Those two are my favorites visually.

Totally!  The end goal is a procedural top down shooter where I mix and match tiles for everything.  Mix and match ship parts.  Mix and match backgrounds.  Even weapons.  Mr Potato head style :)

This is great too. Of course I have to ask. Do you intend to add a player sprite as well?As always, keep up the good work.

Yes! I plan to make a playable character for this pack and future packs like it. Currently, I'm picking out abilities for the player and studying games in the same genre. But once I have everything figured out, I'll have a player out in no time. But don't expect an update soon; think 2-3 weeks from now. Thanks again, CapnWakka!
